RCIA, (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) also known as the Catechumenate,
is a restored Rite within the Roman
Catholic Church. Rituals mark and acknowledge the process of
ongoing deepening of faith within a person as well as providing an
opportunity for adults to ‘come and see’ what Catholic Christians
believe and strive to live. The atmosphere of the weekly meetings
honour adult learning needs and includes content, discussion and
encourages questions from those inquiring.
The process is facilitated by parishioners desiring to share their faith
with those inquiring into the Catholic Christian tradition, in a very
casual, welcoming environment, in which the needs of each person are
considered and respected. RCIA also serves as a vehicle for those who
wish to become fully initiated members of the Roman Catholic Church.
